Age Concern Slough and Berkshire East provides a website with many accessibility features to help make visitors experience with disability or impairment as good as possible.

We designed the site following the web content accessibility guidelines (WCAG 2.0). If you need more information on how to make your browsing experience easier is available from the BBC'sMy Web My Way website. This provides advice and help on how to get the most of the accessibility features and assistive technologies available for your computer

Browsers we support

We worked hard to make our site screen is responsive depend of the size of the screen.

Our accessibility features work when using the following browsers:

  • Chrome
  • Safari
  • Firefox
  • Android browser
  • Internet Explorer 8, 9, 10 and 11

 

Making the text bigger

You may be able to change the Text size of your browser by following these steps

 

Microsoft Internet Explorer:

  • Choose the drop down menu at the top of the window of the browser marked "view"
  • A list of options will appear in the drop down menu, choose "text size"
  • Next another drop down menu should appear with options including "small", "medium", "large", "largest"
  • Select "largest".

 

Mozilla Firefox

  • To Zoom in or out Hold down the Ctrl button on your keyboard and press the plus (+) key  You will find that this will enlarge the text
  • If you need to make the text smaller press Ctrl on your keyboard and the minus ( - ) key You will find that this will enlarge the text

Apple Safari: 

To increase or decrease the magnification of a web page in Safari, press Ctrl and '+' (plus) to zoom in, or Ctrl and (minus) to zoom out. To return the text to its original size, press Ctrl + 0

 

Also you can use:

  • Hold down the Apple Key and press the (+) key 
  • You will find that this will enlarge the text, to enlarge again repeat the procedure
  • Keep repeating until the text is enlarged to your requirements 
  • If you need to make the text smaller press the Apple Key on your keyboard and press the (-) key

Google Chrome

Colours

We have tried to use colours that make the words on our webpages easy to read, but we know that some people have trouble with reading text on certain colours.

All images in our site have alternative text that clearly describes what they show.

 

Visual design

This site uses cascading style sheets for visual layout. If your browser or browsing device does not support style sheets, the content of each page is designed to be still readable.
