Winter Appeal Touches Celebrity Hearts and Minds
Berkshire Community Foundation Surviving Winter Appeal Touches Celebrity Hearts and Minds
The Surviving Winter Appeal has been launched in Berkshire to help older and vulnerable residents live more comfortably during the colder months. The appeal encourages over 60s to gift their Winter Fuel Payment to those who struggle to stretch their pension and income to pay bills and still afford necessities.
Surviving Winter is part of a nationwide Campaign being run by Community Foundations and is endorsed by Saga and a whole host of ‘national treasures’ including Sir Terry Wogan, and Sir David Jason.
Berkshire resident, Sir Michael Parkinson, has already given his whole-hearted support.

"I fully support the "Surviving Winter appeal" to assist the elderly and the vulnirable to keep warm and healthy during our cold winters. If you are in a position to do so please help by donating all or part of your winter full payment to this very worthwhile cause." Sir Micheal Perkinson |
Berkshire CF CEO, Andrew Middleton, said, ‘All funds donated to the Berkshire Community Foundation Surviving Winter Appeal will directly benefit someone in the County.
Berkshire is seen as an affluent area, and yet we know that there are areas of need where people quite literally struggle to survive especially when temperatures drop. This Appeal further supports our ’think local give local’ initiative, which means that every pound gifted in Berkshire will stay in Berkshire and used to help a local person.‘
Tracey Morgan, Chief Executive of Slough and Berkshire East Age Concern, added, ‘I am delighted to support this initiative. Your kindness will ensure that people who really need help this winter will get it. Every year we support thousands of people, and are seeing increasing numbers of Berkshire residents literally having to choose whether to buy food or heat their homes during the colder months. Your generosity will make a huge difference.’
Andrew Middleton, Berkshire CF concluded. ‘Anyone can support this appeal - not just those in receipt of the Winter Fuel Payment. Please help us to make this Christmas a happier time for those who really do need our help!’
