January 2021 Newsletter
Age Concern have met some difficult challenges during 2020 and now again in 2021. We are a local charity with strong values and introduced our Hear For You service in March 2020 to help combat loneliness within the elderly community. This involved keeping up regular contact with those who needed it by way of phone calls, shopping and food parcels. Age Concern staff and volunteers worked hard to ensure that we helped as many of our elderly community as we could, when they were unable to go out.
We have recently applied for a grant to enable us to put in place a new Befriending Plus Service which will support the elderly during this uncertain time and in the future. Our Befriending Plus Service will mean we can provide not only regular telephone calls, but also home visits (when possible again). Our aim is to maintain weekly contact with those who are unable to go out or feel vulnerable and alone. We are actively recruiting volunteers to help us, whilst also advertising this service to those who may need it.
