Companion Centre Manager (Wexham)

Initial 6 month fixed term contract

At Age concern Slough & Berkshire East we are committed to providing support to elderly and vulnerable people in the community. We have been running services in Slough and the surrounding areas for over 30 years, running a network of popular and lively companion centres. We are currently looking for a proactive and flexible individual to manage our team and help the local community. The successful candidate will have the ability to:

  • Cook a healthy, nutritious lunch for 15+ clients at any one time (experience of this is essential).
  • Manage, develop and motivate volunteers
  • Create a supportive and homely environment where service users can achieve maximum independence and reduce their loneliness
  • Managing and developing the centres, improving existing and devising new services

The day will include shopping, managing volunteers, interacting with clients, basic paperwork and providing a good service to attract more people to the clubs. This is an excellent opportunity to do an enjoyable job helping people in the local community. You must be a car driver to apply for this opportunity. An up to date Food Safety Certificate will be an advantage however appropriate training will be provided.

Hours – 13 hours a week (8am – 3pm, with 30 minute unpaid break) 

Days – 2 days a week (Tues & Wed)

Rate of pay - £10.58 per hour

We are currently looking for a proactive and flexible individual to provide lunch and a welcoming environment for out clients, helping the local community. The successful candidate will have the ability to:

Finance Manager (3 days / 22.5 Hours)

A leading charity in Slough is seeking an exceptional candidate to fill the key role of Finance Manager as they build a springboard to the next phase of exciting growth. At a crucial juncture in the organisation’s evolution, the role is a statement of intent in terms of their growing ambitions and the need to strengthen the financial inputs to the leadership team that you will be a part of.

This role is responsible for a small team and the full range of accounting functions including preparation of Final accounts. The successful candidate will need the capacity to operate at a ‘hands-on’ level whilst also having to write reports and deliver commentaries to the board of Trustees. The successful applicant will need to understand the importance of detail and take responsibility for ensuring all deadlines for reports, returns etc. are met.

Whilst at least part qualified, a charity background would be advantageous but not absolutely essential, however your personal attributes are. Industrious and innovative, energetic and entrepreneurial and the ability to lead others and inspire by example are the qualities we’re looking for.

As a Cleaning / Shopping operative no two days will be the same, as a valued member of the Cleaning / Shopping team you will be on hand to help our clients in their own homes with cleaning, shopping and general support (each appointment is a minimum of 1 hour). Your valuable work will be helping our clients remain independent - without this vital service many individuals would have no choice but to leave the home they love.
